This shirt not only throws back to a period of great success for Nissan FC - the name the Yokohama (F.) Marinos then went by - but it is also aesthetically magnificent.
The adidas branding is limited to the Trefoil-based chest logo, what we’d ordinarily assume to be the “sponsor” is in fact the team identifier (although the crest appears on the sleeve and the sandwich-board factor remains for the car manufacturer) and the contrast white collar and cuffs have measured blue-and-red trim.
Add to this the ghost striping of the jacquard and the result is a beautiful relic of a football (design) era now over three decades back.
