A wonderful find from Jimmy from The Glove Bag, here are some kits and apparel pages from an adidas catalogue approximately 40 years ago.
There are three-striped v-necks and cuffs, raglan sleeves aplenty, and even some Nottingham Forest crest embroidery referencing their retention of the European Cup - yes, it really was a different world.
Iconic designs include Leyton Orient’s City of London braces style effect, panel shorts before you’d imagine they were ever conceived of, and a plethora of oversized sponsors for the French club sides.
Furthermore, that sash shirt for Crystal Palace, Manchester United’s torso adidas stripes, Luton’s asymmetrical branding, an early example of France’s Tricolore stripes...the list goes on!
It’s a treat for any kit aficionado and anyone who wonders what such a big player in kit manufacturing was up to when the replica market was just beginning to take off.
Thanks to Jimmy from The Glove Bag - tgbjimmy on Twitter - for bringing this to our attention.
