Going, Going, Gone - Peter Latchford's 1978 Celtic Scottish League Cup Final Jersey

This Scottish football oddity recently sold for a whopping £4800 at auction, obliterating its £200-300 estimate.

A red Celtic FC shirt, even carried by a custodian, is a rare thing indeed, with this version associated with 1978 League Cup Final goalkeeper Peter Latchford - and carrying a potentially more recently added number 1 on the reverse - also benefitting from match embroidery.

The green half of Glasgow left Hampden Park disappointed that day - defeated by their famous cross-city rivals - with red an unlikely colour to be seen between the Celtic sticks to this day.

This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
