Despite the 1970s being a disappointing period for the England national team, Admiral “Three Lions” shirts are always of huge interest.

This design was the first of that supplier’s era at the FA’s outsourced drawing board and this long-sleeved example, match worn by one Tony Currie, sold for £2,600 at auction.

The militaristic patch logo is present and correct, as are the blue-and-red-trimmed winged collar and the blue-and-red shoulder-and-sleeve striping - and the hooped cuffs - as well as, of course, the famous national side’s crest and, finishing the article off nicely, Currie’s number 10 on the reverse.

This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
