Coventry City to wear their Brown kit

Coventry City will be wearing their limited edition chocolate brown strip when they take on Watford for the final home game of the 2008/09 season at the Ricoh Arena this Saturday.

At the beginning of the season, City decided to issue an up-to-date version of the iconic strip from the 1970s as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations.

Just 1,125 were made and they quickly sold out and now the players will get to sample the strip for one match - and the club is asking supporters to wear brown for the occasion too.

Coventry City commercial director Nathan Kosky said: "The brown strip proved very popular among supporters when we issued a limited edition replica shirt earlier in the season.

"The original strip - famously worn by the likes of Ian Wallace - split opinion right down the middle. Some loved it, some loathed it but it certainly grabbed attention.

"Although there are no promotion or relegation issues to be resolved on Saturday it is still a very big game for the club.

"We want to finish the season on a high to give everyone something to look forward to for in the next campaign.

"Hopefully, by creating a fun, party atmosphere as is often the case on the last game of the season, and with everyone wearing some brown with their sky blue that will help to make it a special day."

what makes me laugh is that the chocolate brown strip has always been affectionately nostalgic for Cov fans - we know it\'s not great, but it will always have a place in our hearts - what makes it really funny is seeing people bite!

Point is, Cov fans don\'t care - it\'s part of our history, we don\'t expect anyone to like it but it\'s ours.

Besides, it\'s nice for the club to show a bit of tradition, after the home shirts being sky blue, then stripes, then sky/navy stripes...

I\'ve got relatives in Coventry so I always like to see what kit they have.
Great idea to have a special brown away kit but not with that template!
They could have done something inovative like sjy-blue and brown stripes or hoops or something...but that.Oh no,how cheap and tacky.
Still,I agree with others that is just about good enough to be a third strip for next season.

hey this is a diffrent color ratehr than waht we see from all other teams having the same color in their kits.

but they should keep that color its cool. and diffrent. we never see teams having this color from a while.

i want to say that this color is diffrent than any other color we all see from the clubs each year.

brown color is not shown in many clubs a lot.
so i say its a good kit and color for that team they should keep them worn next season.

    thank you for showing us

As kids in the 70\'s, we used to ask for a football kit for christmas. Not necessarily a United kit (Salford kids you see!), but one that we thought looked cool.

Around that time Admiral were making some nice kits...I had the Spurs home, others had the Wales away, Coventry away (the Red one), Forest home and dare I say it Leeds home! We all thought the Brown kit looked good, but no-one wanted for their present.

Saying that, it was the right colour for Cov tho\'
