Middlesbrough 08/09 Errea kits fully waterproof

Middlesbrough’s kit manufacturer Errea have revealed that the club’s new 08/09 home and away shirts are resistant to water and other liquids thanks to unique technology that utilises silver and titanium in the shirt fabric.

Errea’s marketing manager Fabrizio Taddei believes supporters will be amazed by the technology too.

“Middlesbrough are the first and only football club in the world to have utilized this unique material in a football shirt,” said Fabrizio.

“The new shirts are not only fully waterproof but are also resistant to other liquids,” he continued.

Errea are at the forefront of incorporating new scientific breakthroughs into the manufacture of sportswear and utilised ‘nanotechnology’ to make the water-resistant nature of Boro’s new shirts possible.

Nanotechnology is an emerging science which involves working with matter on an ultra-small scale, using individual atoms and molecules.

Fabrizio explains: “Whereas other clothing is often made waterproof through a coating process, tiny particles of titanium and silver have been woven into the yarn of Boro’s new shirts to create a unique fabric.

“We are confident that the new technologies utilised in the manufacturing of the shirts will be appreciated by the players and the supporters.”

Very appropriate considering the crappy weather in the north east. Do does the water sit on it like its been coated with wax? Why has errea come up with this technology and not nike / adidas etc. I reckon this is a marketing campaign to sell more shirts, i doubt it fully works.

I\'ve always wondered if this would be possible. Great. But it won\'t stop Boro bringing out 2 new kits every season.
