Why is the emblem of the club and the city a bat? There are several explanations. Legend says that on October 9, 1238, when Jaume I was about to enter the city of Valencia after it was reconquered from the Moors, a bat was posed on its flag.
Since then it was added to the coat of arms as a symbol of good luck.
For the 2008-09 season the new Nike kits of Valencia CF are inspired both by the bat as by the futuristic aspect of the City of Sciences and Arts. It will be the last season in the Mestalla stadium, but be assured that the bat will continue protecting them with the best of luck.
