After more than seven years of planning, structuring and huge financial outlay towards the purchase of some of the most sought after items of footballing memorabilia, the West Ham United Museum opened its doors for the first time on Saturday, August 24, 2002.
Establishing a West Ham United Museum had been the dream of Chairman Terence Brown and his fellow Director, Charles Warner, since the Club's Centenary Year of 1995. It was during this time the Club made an appeal for donations to help make that dream a reality.
A NUCLEAR consultant is hoping to get money for old rope - and send it to a heart charity.
Paul Youngson, 24, was born with congenital heart problems and had to have a series of operations when he was three months old.
Now the safety consultant is hoping to raise thousands of pounds by trading an old piece of rope for prizes.
Mr Youngson, from Hale Village, got the idea from a news story about a man who started with a paper clip and continuously swopped it until he ended up with a house.
He is just four months into his trading and Mr Youngson has got his hand on a Xabi Alonso shirt from Liverpool Football Club.
It becomes an expensive time for the die-hard Romario shirt collectors. The 41-birthday goalgetter wears a new shirt every time he scores a goal.
In his hunt on the milestone of 1000 goals, Romario playes against América (starts on the bench) with a Vasco da Gama-shirt with the number 13 on its sleeve.
13 is the number of goals that are necessarily to get to a thousand goals.
Romario wears his own number 11 in the games, and on his sleeve the number 13 counts down to zero with every goal he scores. It is not known if O Baixinho (De Small one) changes his shirt as soon as he scores during a match.
The scamonebay website made a guide about buying signed shirts on Ebay which can help you buy the real deal.
Heres a few facts to follow when buying a signed shirt. They are easy to spot and there are some easy rules to follow when buying a signed shirt.
1. Don't buy of eBay con men (obviously but what are the tell tale signs?)
2. Make sure they can show you photo's of the players signing the shirt
3. Don’t buy off anyone using "private auctions" were you can't see the other bidders identities - this helps them fraud you in two ways, first they can push the price up artificially and secondly its stops quality operators from contacting you and letting you know that its a fake.
4. Don’t buy from anyone that hides their feedback - WHY would a reputable dealer do that - a real dealer’s feedback is his pride and joy and they would NEVER hide it. IGNORE Certificates of Authenticity - they mean nothing and we only make them up ourselves on the computer - the only CoA that is worth anything is if it is on official club paper.

It would seem these days that every collector worth his salt has got a match worn Maradona shirt proudly displayed on his website. That might not seem strange in itself but the very fact that there are so many Maradona shirts described as match worn does beg the question.....Are they all genuine?
I have no doubts that during his playing career in Europe and, indeed, Argentina opposition players all desperately vied for the shirt swap with Diego at the end of 90 minutes of being dragged all over the park. Those players, on the whole, were not as ridiculously rewarded financially as today’s stars, which is reflected in the amount of former players who end up selling their treasured items.
It would be interesting listening to the kitmen of Maradona’s various clubs in order to ascertain just how many shirts he went through a season. Did he swap shirts every game requiring a new shirt each match?
Earlier in the Season Fulham registered a superb win over Newcastle United thanks to goals from Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra. For the game Fulham wore their blue third strip; a kit that will never be made available for retail.
This once in a lifetime opportunity will give the Fulham fans the chance to own the match issue shirt by their favourite Fulham player. Not only will you get this authentic merchandise, but the shirt will also be signed by the player to complete this unique opportunity. First up are Michael Brown and Papa Bouba Diop; and your other favourites will follow soon.
Description: This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any Fulham fan to own the actual shirt, worn on the day of the Newcastle United away game, by Papa Bouba Diop. Not only is it signed by Papa himself but this kit was only ever worn once and will never be made available for retail.
